Come have a mountaintop experience of a lifetime!
The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above[a] proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
4 Their voice[b] goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect,[c]
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
8 the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the Lord is clean,
the rules[d] of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can discern his errors?
Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins;
let them not have dominion over me!
Then I shall be blameless,
and innocent of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
Verses 1 – 6 of Psalm 19 are God’s revelation through creation. Creation is God’s craft project, and we can learn about God just by looking at the things He has made. Just like there is nothing that can stop the sun from traveling its path across the heavens, there is nothing that can stop God from carrying out His purposes. Just like the heavens are orderly, God is orderly.
Verses 7 – 11 are God’s revelation through Scripture. As we prayerfully and carefully approach the Word of God, we discover that on these pages are truth and rules that don’t bog us down, but lift us up. They are sweet and our lives are blessed as we follow them.
Verses 12 – 14 are our response to all that God has revealed about Himself. With a sense of awe we should reflect on our lives against God’s standards, and then ask for forgiveness and restoration appropriately.
Camping is a powerful tool for beginning, refreshing, or growing our relationship with God because: at camp we are surrounded by God’s creation; most likely we are challenged to read and think about scripture more than we do at home; we are outside of our normal activities and schedules and we have more time to reflect and make a decision.
Camp Wyoba is a Christian Camp on Casper Mountain, centrally located in Wyoming. We offer a men’s retreat in June, youth camps in July, and a young adult and women’s retreat in August. Camp Wyoba is a pretty rustic camp, and we don’t have horses, lakes, or zip lines. However, our camp is blessed with the presence of the Spirit, and many lives have been changed over the 84 years we have been doing ministry.
If you would like more information about attending a camp at Wyoba, you can go to wyoba.org, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 307-234-6240.
